Three reasons why Super Steel (Honyaki) is chosen
-
1. Honyaki
Compared to matching knives, Honyaki knives are less prone to distortion even after long-term use, and they are highly popular partly because they are made using the same manufacturing process as Japanese swords.
-
2. Mirror Polished
The surface of the blade is mirror polished.
-
3. The Sharpening Process by Sakai City Traditional Craftsman
The sharpening process, including mirror polishing, is performed by traditional craftsman Tadayoshi Yamatsuka.

The Origin of Craftsmanship
-
Relentless dedication of craftsmen to pass down tradition to the next generation.
-
Traditional craftsmanship cannot be preserved simply by passing it on. As times change and people’s lifestyles and values evolve, we, as craftsmen, strive to adapt to these changes while preserving the time-honored skills and spirit of our craft. Knife-making is no exception; each knife embodies the accumulated techniques and wisdom passed down through generations.
-
To inspire younger generations to take an interest in this path, to develop their skills, and to carry this craft into the future, we must continually learn and refine our techniques. Our mission is to create knives with a lasting allure that makes the next generation feel, “I want to preserve this art.” The path to preserving tradition for the future is not easy, but at the end of that road lies the hope of a new generation—a belief that drives us to the forge each day.
